FAQ
The questions parents actually ask us.
+Will my insurance cover nutrition counseling for my athlete?
If you're in-network with Aetna, BCBS, Cigna, or UnitedHealthcare, almost certainly yes. Most families pay $0 out-of-pocket, and many plans cover unlimited sessions.
+Is my athlete old enough for this?
Yes. We work with athletes from middle school through college. Plans are age-appropriate by design — what we build for a 13-year-old, a 17-year-old, and a 21-year-old all look different, because their bodies, training loads, and goals are different.
+Will you push supplements on my kid?
No. Our approach is food-first. We recommend a supplement only when a nutrition gap can't reasonably be closed with food, and we're transparent about NSF-certified options and banned-substance risk (especially for athletes in NCAA, USADA, or sport-specific drug-testing programs).
+What about weight gain or body composition?
We work with athletes whose coaches have asked them to add muscle for football, wrestling, or lifting, and with athletes who need to dial in body composition. No aggressive approaches at this age — sustainable, food-based, parent-in-the-loop.
+Does my athlete actually have to be on the call?
Yes, the athlete must be present. All athletes under 18 require a parent/guardian to sit in the sessions.
+What if my athlete has signs of disordered eating?
Several of our dietitians are trained to support athletes through disordered eating and recovery. We're a complement to clinical treatment, not a replacement for it. Tell us in your intake and we'll match accordingly.
